La Bristol is the Most Famous Beach in Mar del Plata located in the center of the city in front of the Casino Central, the Hotel Provincial and the Nueva Rambla. The beach is more than 1.500 meters long, and runs from Punta Iglesias to Punta Piedras.
Towards the end of the the 19:th century the beach started to be called la Bristol due to its location close to the luxurious hotel with the same name that was opened in 1888. From that same year is the first boulevard in Mar del Plata.
In the year 1998 dredging took place in the Bristol beach that made it 150 m2 larger. On a hot summer day, these extra 150 m2 can be used by around 30.000 persons.
This beach is known as the most popular one in the City of Mar del Plata, and is mostly used by tourists from other parts of Argentina that come to Mar del Plata on their summer or Easter vacations. One of the reasons why this beach has become so popular is because it is located in the city center and is easily accessed after visiting some of Mar del Platas other famous sites, such as the "fería" (fair), the casino, the water shows, the walking streets, and many other famous sites that are located close to this very popular beach.
La Bristol is the beach where it is said that fashion doesn't matter, and the only reason that people come here is to enjoy themselves.
